Dental Staff
Our goal is to provide a dental home for the children of the Gateway Regional Schools.
We endeavor to provide easy access and comprehensive dental service at our elementary, middle and high schools.

Gator Grins means that your child will not have to miss a lot of classroom time for a dental appointment and you won't have to miss work and spend your valuable time and money transporting him or her to the dentist.

All services will be provided by the Hilltown Community Health Center's professional staff at your child's' school.
Why Provide Dental Care at School?
What Services will be Provided?
What Makes our Program Unique?
How Can Your Child Use the School Dental Center?
• Comprehensive Dental Exams
• X-rays
• Dental Cleaning
• Fluoride Varnishes
• Dental Sealants
• Amalgam and Composite Fillings
• Emergency Dental Care

While some school programs provide dental screenings, sealants, and fluoride, they do not include restorative or routine care, therefore requiring children to also see another dentist.
Our dental outreach program is truly a “dental home” for our students. Research suggests that children are less intimidated and hence more cooperative when dental care is provided at a familiar setting such as school.

We are part of the Hilltown Community Health Centers and our dentists and hygienists are employees of the Worthington and Huntington Health Centers. Our students will be seen by known providers, which we know is important in building a good dental relationship. Under the direction of Dr. MaryLou Stuart, dental services will be provided by Dr. Emily Bowden and registered dental hygienist, Liz Spooner. We are available after school hours and during the summer at the Worthington and Huntington centers.
You will need to fill out a permission and medical history form. Download and print the consent form by clicking the button below. Once completed, please mail to: Huntington Health Center, Attn: Gator Grins, 73 Russell Rd., Huntington, MA 01050. If possible, please include a copy of your child’s insurance card. If you have questions regarding the forms, please call Kiirsten Cooper at
413-667-3009 ext. 239.

No appointment is necessary; your child will be scheduled for a comprehensive exam and x-rays when the dental team is at your child’s school. You will be informed of any necessary treatment after this visit. Parents are always welcome to attend.

We accept most dental insurances including Mass Health and Commonwealth/Doral. Our mission is that no child will be denied dental care because of lack of ability to pay.

The Hilltown Community Health Access Counselors can help you determine if you or your children qualify for state or federal insurance program. They can assist you with the enrollment process. Call John Bergeron at 413-667-2203 or Denise St. Pierre at 413-238-4117.

The Dental Outreach Program is funded through grants from the Oral Health Foundation and the Mass Health Access Program. We are an equal access provider.
As all of us who live in the hill towns know, getting the services we need can be a challenge. Studies have shown that children in rural areas miss more school for dental appointments, and often have difficulties getting to the dentist. In addition, there is a higher cost to parents for time missed from work and the cost of the commute. Often parents cannot locate a local dentist that accepts their dental insurance. Fortunately the Oral Health Foundation and the MassHealth Access Program understand this need, and through generous grants, we have obtained portable state-of-the-art dental equipment. Funds from the Gateway Regional District Schools will not be used for this program.
