Grand Opening Planned for New, Little Free Library on Tuesday, July 31

Hilltown Community Health CenterEvents

Come join the Hilltown community at the grand opening of the new Little Free Library on Tuesday July 31, from 10am-12pm.

The Hilltown Community Health Center was fortunate to be chosen as a recipient for an Impact package from the Little Free Library at our Hilltown Community Center located at 9 Russell Road in Huntington, MA. The Hilltown Community Center empowers clients by connecting them to resources, education, and assistance.  It is home to the Hilltown Family Center which provides free programs for families with children birth to five years; health care navigation; management of chronic diseases; SNAP (food stamps) assistance; experienced guidance for families facing domestic violence; and many other programs.

The Little Free Library comes fully assembled with a starter collection of books. Grace LeBarron, a rising Gateway Regional High School Senior, has taken charge of coordinating volunteers and the work schedule for decoration and installation. We are very excited about this and see the Huntington installation as a first step in developing a movement to install Little Free Libraries in all of the hilltowns.

Little Free Library is a 501 non-profit organization that aims to inspire a love of reading, to build community, and to spark creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges around the world. We invite all members of the community, both adults and children, to “Take a book. Share a book.”

At our grand opening, bring a book to swap at our book swap. Share lemonade and cookies with our staff and community. Walk along a Story Walk of I Went Walking. Listen to a reading from a staff or community member. Rejoice in celebrating our mutual love of reading. We will also have Community Programs staff on hand to answer questions about individual programs.

For questions about this event please contact Kim Savery, Community Programs Director, at 413-667-2203, ext. 310.
