Letter from our CEO
Dear Patients,
I am writing to share an important update about our eye care services and, most importantly, to thank you for your continued patience, understanding, and trust during this challenging time.
Like many health care organizations across the country, we are experiencing a shortage of eye care providers. We know this has affected our ability to offer appointments as quickly as we would like and, for some of you, has meant that scheduled appointments had to be cancelled. We understand how disappointing, frustrating, and concerning this can be when you are waiting for care, and we are truly sorry for the hardship this may have caused.
As both an optometrist and the Chief Executive Officer of Hilltown Community Health Centers, caring for patients is incredibly meaningful to me. I value the relationships we have with the people and families we serve, and I understand the importance of timely, dependable access to care. At the same time, my responsibilities as CEO require me to focus much of my time on leading the organization and ensuring that we continue to provide high-quality care across all of our services. While I am unable to see patients on a regular full-time schedule, I am working additional clinical shifts whenever possible to help increase access and support our eye care team.
Please know that we are not taking this situation lightly. We are actively monitoring our schedule, prioritizing patient needs, exploring staffing solutions, and making thoughtful decisions to support our eye care services. Our patients are at the center of every decision we make, and we remain deeply committed to doing everything we can to care for you with respect, compassion, and professionalism.
We remain fully committed to providing the highest quality care possible. We appreciate your patience as we work through these challenges, and we want you to know that your care matters to us. Our team will continue working hard to serve our patients as timely, thoughtfully, and compassionately as possible.
Thank you for trusting us with your care and for allowing us to continue serving you and our community.
Sincerely,
Michael Purdy, OD, MPH
